An equal future for all boys and girls

Lige-frem.dk contains information and useful ideas for providing boys and girls in grades 6 through 9/10 with education and vocational guidance that focuses on the role of gender. The aim is to inspire and give food for thought for parents as well as teachers and counselors who advise young people facing educational and occupational choices.

In Denmark, the education system and labour market are sharply divided according to gender. The result is that:

• Gender becomes the determining factor in educational and vocational choice - before skills and personal desire.
• Many men and women only have colleagues of their own gender.
• Each gender's resources and experiences are not used optimally in all sectors.
• The labour market's gender divide is the main reason for unequal pay.
• There are bottlenecks in some sectors, while others suffer from unemployment.
