Young people do listen to their parents

Many studies have shown that young people do listen to their parents' advice when making choices about what educational or vocational path to follow after 9th/10th grade. What kind of advice will you give?

This page will help and inspire you as parents, as you advise your sons and daughters about choosing the right education or vocation. The materials will particularly shed light on the importance of gender in making those choices - and help give relevant advice.

You will find questionnaires on this page, to be used as at-home exercises. This will help to start a dialogue between parents themselves - and between parents and their sons and daughters. You can also use the exercises to prepare for a meeting with a teacher or guidance counselor. Ideas for gender-focused advice or guidance counseling for your son or daughter
